Q: I'm being billed for using BTSharp on a server on which I'm already paying for bandwidth. That doesn't make sense.

Q: I'm being billed for using BTSharp on a server on which I'm already paying for bandwidth. That doesn't make sense.

Q: I already have a server somewhere that serves files. Why am I paying you for bandwidth I already own?

You don't have to, and we don't want you to be "double-billed" for your Main Seeder hosting account.  It is in no way our intention to charge you for bandwidth that you haven't "saved" off of your original hosting bill.

Scenario: Suppose you have a Dedicated or Virtual Hosting account with an existing hosting company, such as http://www.orcsweb.com/, and are running a program that hosts files using BTSharp as the BitTorrent client.

If you'd like to bypass charges for files downloaded from your "Main Seeder" hosting account on servers you own, follow the directions:

    1. Log in to the administration panel of your BTSharp account
    2. Select Account Details
    3. Specify the IP Address of the server that you are hosting on as an initial seed for your content.
    4. Click "Save"

    Privacy Concerns

    • "How do you keep our Main Seeder IP address do this and maintain anonymity"?

The BTSharp Reporting Services are 100% anonymous, so the IP Address of your server is never stored in any
of our reporting logs.  What we do store is that the IP Address that is reporting usage was the valid "Main Server". This is a simple "yes" or "no", instead of an IP address.

There is one master list that stores your "Main Seeder" IP address.  We will never give this out, and you can change your "Main Seeder" IP Address at any time.

BTSharp fully respects privacy never records any IP addresses of users.  We're proud supporters of the EFF.  Your privacy and the privacy of your customers is extremely important to us.
